What a weekend

We had such a fun yet exhausting weekend. It is really fun that the girls are getting bigger so that they can really enjoy doing things. The only problem is that the girls are getting bigger.

It started Sat with a morning of running errands and packing. Then a quick lunch at McDonalds so that Caroline could get another Shrek toy. Then dropping off Grace and Auntie Ruth at home so that Mom and Dad could take Caroline to see Shrek the Third. It went pretty well but Caroline really wanted to see the babies and they did not come until the very end.

Then we went home to get Grace, packed the van, and headed to Embassy Suites. Once there we had some pizza and hit the pool. Boy were they excited about that. Both girls must be part fish. They were jumping in from the side, practicing floating and even going under water. The only bad part is that both of us have to be in the pool so we cannot get any pictures. (PS - those rooms are great when you have kids because you can put them to sleep in one room while you can still be awake and doing things in the other.)

Sunday was all about yard work. Grandma Lisa came and helped with the kids while we started fixing our backyard. That job extended into Monday (the only break during the day was to go to the Memorial Day program at the Legion). I am excited but a little nervous because now I need to go and pick out plants to fill the garden.

But we ended the weekend with a great party. We had a group of out friends over and had a BBQ. It is so much fun to just enjoy each other. The kids played their hearts out (and slept really well for their parents last night). Plus we got to meet Ruth's new boyfriend, Carl, and he passes.

Good weekend, now I just need to recover a little. But it was more than worth it because I got to enjoy my family and friends.

You Decide

This is what happened last night while we were putting Grace to bed. Caroline usually reads books but she did not make it that far.

What could have made her do this???? Hmmmmm Could it be:

  • Her sister waking her up at 5:30

  • The stress over her first visit to the Dentist

  • Playing at the park for 2 hours

  • Pushing everyones buttons because I was tired.

You decide.

Another First

Today Caroline visited the Dentist for the first time.

It was hard for me because I have a hard time going to the dentist. But it was amazingly relaxing to have her in there with me. Maybe it was know that I needed to be strong for her, but whatever it was I was pretty calm.
Or maybe it was hard for me to see my little girl all grown up. Could be.

She did ok. She did not open her mouth for the hygenist but she did let the dentist look. Dr. Bakken was great.

Unfortunatly, she has a cavity. I cannot believe it. He said that it was a developmental defect, her enamel just did not close on her molar. He said that the rest of her mouth looked great. Oh well, at least we can fix it.

And if you ask her now, she said it was fun.

Things I am thankful for

I am feeling thankful today. I have been too negative lately and feel the need to focus on the positive. So here is a list. And I would love to hear what you are thankful for today as well.

  1. My husband, Kris. He puts up with a great deal and Loves me anyway.
  2. My girls.
  3. Healthy parents
  4. Good friends
  5. A safe and welcoming home.
  6. The smell of lilacs when I step outside.
  7. Getting things put in order to calm my nerves.
  8. Cooking in my kitchen
  9. Being able to put my feelings out there.

Have an amazing day.

Happy Birthday Joanna

It is my friend Joanna's 30th birthday. She has always been the "baby" of the group. So that makes her the last to turn 30.

Welcome to the club. It is not so bad. Happy Birthday Jo!!

She has a great blog (especially if you like photography or scrapebooking).

Haircut

I gave Grace her first trim of her hair yesterday. It is amazing to me how just trimming a few hairs can make them age so quickly. The benefit is that you can see her happy, blue eyes better.

My Girls

I know that I have complained about my girls on occasion. But this is not one of those days.

Today my kids were great. I spent almost 2 hours at the grocery store today and they were just Angels. They had their snack, played with each other, and even listened to me.

I sure love my little girls and they are great to have around.

Happy Mother's Day

I had a great Mother's Day. I got to spend the day with not only my girls but my boys and my mom too. The boys are of course my sister Anne's boys, Jacob and Lucas.

I really like how we can all just hang out together and have a good time. We worked hard most of Saturday taking down 4 trees and a bunch of dead limbs at Mom and Dad's. But after that, we had a bonfire and cooked hot dogs. The kids get along so well and so do the adults.

Now they just need to make a way to get there from the Cities a little faster. Grace is not a fan of the long car ride.

A Cinderella Story

As the older sister is forced to clean the floor . . .

The younger sister is allowed to relax on the couch.

What kind of evil mother do they have.
