The Glamor Girl and the Ham

Caroline is turning out to be such a Glamor Girl. She has to wear a dress a lot these days. But not just any dress, the dress needs to "get bigger" when she twirls. I tried to get her to wear one that was not like that and we had a nuclear meltdown.

Now she has discovered jewelry. She found this set (necklace, ring and bracelet) and she has worn it all day. It really is awfully cute.

And since I was trying to get a picture of Caroline to share, Grace thought I should have one of her too. She is such a ham. She likes to pose for the camera. After I take a picture of her, she walks around saying "so cute." Apparently, Mom must say that occasionally when she takes pictures.

Gotta love it

I love what kids do when they do not think that you are watching.

Caroline and Grace were singing and reading to each other.

Grace was walking around the house like this for more than 20 mins. I still giggle everytime I picture it. In the background, Caroline has built her bus (lined up the chairs). She now does this every day. If only it was not the end of the world when Grace moved a chair.

Happy Birthday Kris

Yesterday was a fun, busy and yet relaxing day. It was Kris's 33rd birthday.

During the day, the girls and I worked to get some fun things ready for Daddy when he got home. We made cupcakes. We got the cards ready. We planned the "party" (as Caroline cannot imagine a birthday without a party).

Once Kris came home, we went to new-to-us pizza place and met James for dinner. It was a fun place to go. Casual and easy to be there. The kids were great (I am still wondering where my kids were at the time).

Then home for cake and candles.

I have always liked birthdays. But now that the kids are bigger, they are a lot more fun. No matter whose birthday it is there is excitement and fun. It was a good day!!

So many prayers

In case you have not already heard, a bridge collapsed in Minneapolis on Wed. It has been one of those things that is almost unreal.

It seems to take time for the enormity of these things to sink in for me. It was the same thing with the World Trade Centers. I was a little annoyed when they first talked about it because I was not sure how it affected me. I think that I do this because I do not want to think about things like this.

I have prayed for days and it has helped me a lot.

I have prayed for the families. I get stuck in worrying about the people who have to wait to know about loved ones. I am so sorry for those that have lost anyone. And I continue to pray for those in the hospital.

I also want to thank those who rushed toward the chaos instead of running away. They were professionals and regular people and they did amazing things. I continue to pray for them as they deal with what they saw. As they continue to work to find everyone else, I will pray for their safety.

I want to say a special prayer for the politicians. Please remember what you are working for. Do not get petty. Be responsible. Be true leaders.

Please join me in my prayers.

Good Kitty

I have a cat who is so great. Simon takes care of the whole house. He keeps an eye on the kids and is so patient with them. They crawl all over him and he just takes it. I know these pictures are not super flattering but I was having a hard time getting a picture that did not make him look possessed.

I have been having a hard time sleeping lately and Simon has been really helpful. He is not a snugly cat. But when I am having a hard time sleeping, he snuggles in and purrs in my ear. Now I know you might think that it would be annoying but it is actually very calming. He has helped me a lot lately.

So I just wanted Simon and anyone else to know that I am really grateful.
