VIK

In case I have not talked to you, a VIK is a Very Important Kid. This is a special day at Caroline's preschool. And yesterday, Caroline was the VIK.

Daddy got to go with her yesterday and Mommy was only a little jealous. It was really fun to bring her in. All sorts of people made a big deal out of it. She felt so special even before school started.

It is a really cool thing. We make an all-about-me poster with pictures from her life that she then explained to the class. Daddy said she did a really good job and looked so grown up.
She gets to be the leader in all the lines, sit in a special chair(which she took advantage of as much as she could), help get snack ready and bring a parent into class. They even sing a little song just for the VIK. But the thing that I like the most was the teacher reminded her that she is special and loved not only today but everyday.

Daddy told me later that she was into it the whole day. He took so pictures and said she was so grown up. I cannot imagine how proud I will be of her when she has some major accomplishments because I am so proud of her already.

Aren't They Cute

The girls have taken to making funny faces. They love to do it at random times and usually gives them the reaction they are looking for. Kris and I cannot help but laugh when we see it.

They are just really good at the funny face. I hope this makes you smile too.

PS - Her shirt just happens to be the truth as well.

Mommy said the wrong thing

Caroline had to stay home from school yesterday because she was coughing so much I did not think that I should send her. So I called the school and left a message for her teacher. Among other things, I said that she would not be coming because she is coughing her head off.

After I said that I promptly heard from her that she was not losing any of her parts. She was going to be all put together.

I guess she told me.

First of Many

I look at this picture and I think to myself I am going to be getting a few of these looks in the future. And I have to laugh.

Winter Fun and Moving On

This weekend we had some time at home. And for Caroline that meant it was time to go outside and playing in the snow.

Grace went along too but was not nearly as excited about it. She might get that from her mother.

We also had to move on from the crib. Grace has been ready to move and since we had everything that we needed and the time to do it, we made the change.

It is always an interesting when your kids move through a stage. There is a mixture of emotion. I was really proud that she is getting bigger. But I was more emotional than I expected taking down the crib. It is not that I want another baby, it is just that it seems really final. And I love having my little ones. But I am excited to see what else she will turn into.

Regardless the emotions, the room turned out pretty well. Caroline feels like she got a new bed as well.

Wii love to play

For those of you that do not know, a Wii is a game system (kind of like a Playstation). But is is unique in that is not just about pressing buttons. For example, they have a tennis game where you actually play tennis using your controller. You need to stand and I even work up a sweat.

You may ask why I am blogging about this. Well, it has been a great source of enjoyment for our whole family. It was originally purchased for Kris for Father's Day but it has become a family game. Caroline can even play some of them on her own (and she is getting quite good). And Grace like to "play" using her special controller (a remote control).

But it has also given Kris and I something that we can do together. We can play different games together and have a really good time. Plus it makes us feel cool ;-)

It's a Race

What a neat time to be an American. This election is really turning into an amazing and interesting race.

I love that it is a race and that there is no clear person out ahead. I like that because then you get to know about them all a bit more evenly instead of just hearing the bad things about the front runner. I like it because it makes it more interesting and exciting and that should get more people involved.

I also think that it shows how much people want to get involved and make a choice that shows change. I think that people want to make informed choices in this election. I am feel that change can be accomplished with many of the candidates (both parties although there are a few who I think would be more of the same).

I know that it is hard not to get sick of the politics and the constant reporting. But this is an elections unlike most. Keep watching and I think that you may find it pretty interesting.

Great Book

I just finished a great book and I had to share it with you. It is The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory.

It is a work of fiction that reads like it is a true story from History (it felt very similar to reading The Da Vinci Code). It is based in the time of King Henry VIII. It shows the rise and fall of Anne Boleyn and her sister, Mary and how that affects their family and the whole of England.

It is a really good story and a quick read for being 661 pages. I finished it in about a week. It is one of those books that every time I had a chance I wanted to read it. There were days when I had to leave it upstairs because I knew I had to accomplish other things and could not read it.

Plus, it is going to be a movie in the near future. So it may be a good time to read it before it comes out.

Happy Reading.

Grace and her Dad

Grace was not feeling very well a couple of days ago. And as much of a comfort as I was, I was not as good as her Dad.

She snuggled in and took a nap in his arms (she almost never sleeps on us).

And later, she laid on the floor and watched poker on tv. It really was pretty cute. And a little funny to have her walking around for a few days saying poker.

It was pretty obvious that she was not well. Because when she is feeling fine, she looks like this
